This is a key leadership role where you'll take ownership of stock, people, health and safety, and day‑to‑day warehouse operations.
Role: Warehouse Coordinator
Location: Gillingham, Kent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm (40 hours per week)
Contract: Temporary intially with the potential for a permanent role
Salary: £14.50 - £16.50 per hour DOE
About the Role
As the Warehouse Manager, you'll oversee the full warehouse operation, including goods in, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and logistics. This is a hands‑on management role where you'll be visible on the warehouse floor and actively involved in the daily running of the department.
Key Responsibilities
Managing all warehouse operations, including inbound and outbound logistics
Ensuring orders are picked, packed and dispatched accurately and on schedule
Maintaining an efficient warehouse layout and optimising space usage
Leading, motivating and managing the warehouse team
Allocating daily workload and managing staffing levels
Managing stock movements, cycle counts and supporting regular stock takes
Investigating and resolving stock discrepancies
Processing returns and liaising with purchasing and sales teams
Managing courier relationships and resolving delivery issues
Ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation
Carrying out risk assessments and promoting a strong safety culture
Maintaining accurate warehouse documentation and operational records
Supporting audits and continuous improvement initiatives
What You Will Need
Proven experience in a warehouse management or supervisory role
Strong understanding of warehouse operations and stock control
Good knowledge of health and safety requirements
Confident leadership and people‑management skills
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Experience using warehouse systems, ERP software and Excel
A hands‑on, proactive approach to problem solving
Desirable:
Experience in the automotive aftermarket, wheels or tyre industry
Tyre fitting experience
Forklift licences
Experience implementing process improvements
